How do you feel about being alone?
I spent most of my life not being comfortable alone so I want to thank you so much for taking part in this research and for sharing your thoughts about this crucial topic.
Not being able to be alone (although I didn't know it at the time) meant that I chose the wrong relationships, whether friends or partners and, surprisingly, it affected my work projects. I’ve been lonely in relationships most of my life. The most damaging part was how it affected my sense of self-worth. But that’s all changed. I am now at a place where I LOVE being alone, and that’s something I never believed I’d ever say.
That doesn’t mean I’m not lonely sometimes or that I wouldn’t like to have a lovely partner one day, or more friends, but just that I am able to make healthy choices about all the people around me and the activities I take part in. I’m not afraid to stop and hear my own thoughts and feelings. In fact, I lay reflecting on my thoughts so quietly recently that my Fitbit thought I was asleep!
I want to help other people find the ability to feel happy alone. Even those in long-term relationships can benefit from finding this space. It will actually make a healthy relationship even better! So this is for everyone.
There are a few words below about how the questionnaire is set up. Your answers will help me create my new book and podcast which I hope will help others experience this incredible feeling I have now. Thank you again for taking the time to answer the questions thoughtfully.
If you’d like to know more about me, please check my LinkedIn profile or my website, www.mari-williams.com or email if you just want to say hi!
As a thank you, I'm going to send you a PDF copy of my life and leadership book, 'It begins with YOU'. Please feel free to share it.

About this survey...
As a thank you, you will get early access to any blogs, and my new podcast (coming soon) on this topic. I’ll also keep you updated with news about how the book is coming along, and you’ll be the first to know when it’s published!
My new podcast 'Alone and Rising' will invite a range of guests to discuss this topic further. If you’d like to be considered as a guest, please make sure you tick that box so I can contact you. I may also contact some people for further information about their story.
Because I want you to be free to tell your story, under each section is an empty box. Please use this to fill in any of your thoughts about the section you just answered. There will also be an empty box at the bottom for any thoughts you want to add or for you to tell your story. Again you don’t have to but all your thoughts are valued.
I have asked for your gender, age, and ethnicity as I’m researching whether these factors make any difference in our sense of loneliness and our ability to be happily alone.
